Singapore Changi Airport is Getting Even Better – Check It out

TimeOdd Stories - Changi

Singapore Changi Airport Is The Best Airport In The World

For the average traveler, an airport that has a decent food selection and an express spa is pretty stellar. But apparently that’s setting bar low, given the fact that there are airports out there with golf courses, skating rinks, bath houses, and some of the world’s most exceptional architecture.

And then there’s the Singapore Changi Airport, which, according to Skytrax’s annual World Airport Awards, was just named the best airport in the world for the fifth consecutive year.

Despite being the 16th busiest airport the world-over, Changi is known for being incredibly easy to navigate — plus the hundreds of shopping and dining options don’t hurt.

From movie theaters to butterfly gardens, this airport seems to have it all, and believe it or not, they’re expanding.

The new $1.7 billion mixed-use facility will appropriately be called the Jewel and opens to the public in 2019. Inside, travelers will find ten levels of entertainment, including an extensive forest-like botanical garden, indoor waterfall, a brand new hotel, and over 300 restaurants and boutiques to explore.

Above the indoor park you will find “sky nets” which allow travelers to walk around while suspended 26 feet in the air.

The botanic garden will feature the largest hedge maze in Singapore, with an observation tower overlooking the Jewel’s lush Canopy Park.

A flourishing garden will boast seasonal floral displays, perfect for relaxing and passing time during your layover.

There also will be a glass-bottom bridge, which will hang 75 feet in the air and give travelers a bird’s-eye view of the airport’s incredible design.

As if that all isn’t mind-blowing enough, there will be a 131-foot tall indoor waterfall called the Rain Vortex that will have a spectacular light and sound show that will take place every night.

Other airports take note: boring layovers are a thing of the past!
